Fixtures (First Round)

Bay FCs first round of fixtures for the upcoming Winter League are as follows:

Sat Nov 1st 7:40 -
Bay Utd v Ramparts Celtic

Hard fought 1:1 draw. Goal scored by Terry Minford. Special mention to Gary Neary for an excellent penalty save.

The above fixture was changed due to one of the teams pulling out of the league, as a result there was a small change to the following fixtures. Check back for updates....

Sun Nov 9th  College Pitch, KO TBD -
Dulargy Celtic v Bay Utd

Game ended at 3:2. A storming start to the game saw Bay dominate the first half while playing with the wind. The bar was tested as was the keeper with Dulargy getting their first sniff towards the end of the first half. However the game stood level at the break. The second half was a reversal of the first with Dulargy applying the pressure. This finally told with a free that was drifted in over everybodys head a ducked under the crossbar. A second soon followed with a ball down the left wing after a Bay break forward broke down. The ball was crossed and bundled into the back of the net for 2:0. Bay made a number of substitutions and a third Dulargy goal came with about 10 mins to go, a ball high into the box from the left was met by the keeper, but was fumbled into the net under pressure.
From the restart Bay were a transformed team scoring 2 goals in very quick succession to make for a very nervy end to the match, but in the end they came up short.

Sat Nov 15th 18:00 -
Bay Utd v Greenfield

Well earned 5-2 victory for Bay. A game played in perfect conditions, opened up with Bay setting the pace from early on. Man of the match Pat Conway, scored his first of 3 early on after good work from Brendan Needham on the left. The second came shortly afterwards with Terry Minford finishing after Brendan "Joker" McKenna crashed a brilliant curling effort against the post. Bay continued to dominate and but for good play by the Greenfield keeper, could have been further up at half time.
The second half carried on in the same manner as the first, with the Bay midfield and fullbacks getting forward at will. Pat got his second after strong running and a good cross from Joe Needham in midfield. Dave Needham then drove a long distance free kick into the back of the net, with the keeper struggling under pressure from Liam Neary. At this stage, 4-0 down, Greenfield had their best spell of the match. A excellent corner for Greenfield, resulted in an unfortunate o.g. off Paul Minford. Bay then picked it up again, and a nice through ball from Terry Minford set Pat up for hat-trick, when he coolly rounded the keeper and finished with his left. Greenfield got a late consolation after a defensive mix up, but it was too little to late. A comprehensive victory, and by far the best performance of the season so far.

Wed Nov 19th 20:00 -
Bay Utd v Avenue Rd Celtic

Bay went down 2:1 with the last kick of the game. Playing with the wind in the first half, Bay dominated most of the play carving out several good chances, with the Avenue Rd keeper making some good saves. However the pressure finally told with a goal from Teerry Minford. Unfortunately Avenue Rd who despite creating few chances, looked dangerous going forward, struck back within a couple of mins, a defensive collision allowing them to scramble the ball into the back of the net. The game finished 1:1 at half time.
The second half saw a complete turnaround. Bay playing into a fast strengthening breeze found themselves under pressure almost from the kickoff. Avenue Rd were getting forward in waves and putting the Bay defence under a lot of pressure, however the defence managed to deal with all that was thrown at them. After a couple of Bay substitutions Bay themselves managed to start making chances for themselves and had a couple of very good chances to steal the points. With the game in injury time Avenue launched another attack that was cleared for a throw. With the Avenue players pouring forward the throw was taken quickly and the ball was played to the top of the box where it was rifled home. The game was blown up at the restart.
