Celebrate Latino Heritage Night with Bay FC  

Come celebrate Latino Heritage Night during Bay FC’s upcoming home match against Kansas City Current on October 12 at 7 p.m. at PayPal Park. This special event will highlight the important cultural contributions of the Latino community in the Bay Area with performances, art, education and recognition. You won’t want to miss out!  

Performances  

Latino Heritage Night will feature performances from a variety of local talents, showcasing the diversity of Latino culture in the Bay Area throughout the night.  

Pierr Padilla Vásquez  

  • Pierr Padilla Vásquez is bringing Afro-Peruvian music to PayPal Park on Saturday with his incredible Cajón Peruano performance. He created Afro-Peruvian Fest, an annual celebration of Afro-Peruvian culture and music in the Bay Area. Keep up with his music online here.  

Spartan Mambo  

  • Spartan Mambo, San José State University’s salsa performance team, will wow fans with their talented dancing. They’ve performed at events across the Bay Area and college competitions, including recently at the LA Collegiate Salsa Championships where they placed second in their category. Gabriela Sepúlveda  

  • A talented singer-songwriter and actress of Mexican-Chilean descent, Gabriela Sepúlveda will kick off the match with a rendition of the national anthem. Learn more about her music here.  

Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles 

  • This is another match where you’ll want to stay in your seat for halftime! Los Laureles will bring the beautiful dance of Mexican folklórico to life on the field after the first half. Learn more about Los Laureles Academy here.  

Item of the Match  

In honor of the night, Bay FC will have a special Item of the Match shirt exclusively available at the stadium. The Latino Heritage Night shirt was designed by local artist Emilio Cortez, who was born and raised in San Jose. His art is inspired by his love for sports, lettering, music, and his Mexican heritage. Be sure to snag the shirt before it sells out at any of the merch locations at the match! 

Our Cultural Heritage  

We’re proud to recognize and celebrate the rich Latino heritage in the Bay Area, including our fans, players and staff. Learn a little more about the members of Bay FC who are proud of their cultural roots during Latino Heritage Month.  

Alex Loera  

  • The first player in Bay FC history and a national champion with the Santa Clara Broncos, Alex Loera is proudly Mexican American.  

Kiki Pickett  

  • Kiki Pickett grew up in a multi-cultural household and celebrates her Mexican-American heritage. Her parents proudly discussed her path to soccer as the family’s first professional soccer player in Bay FC’s National Daughters Day video here.  

Deyna Castellanos  

  • Born in Maracay, Deyna Castellanos has represented Venezuela at the international level during her soccer career, including serving as captain of her national team. Earlier this year, she took to a new stage and presented at the Latin American Music Awards.  

Kiki Pickett and Alex Loera joined Deyna Castellanos and Melissa Lowder at Arepas Latin Cuisine in San Jose to celebrate their cultures and discuss their favorite foods over a delicious Venezuelan meal. Click here to read the feature. 

Agustina de Giovanni  

Bay FC’s mental performance coach Agustina de Giovanni represented her home country of Argentina as a swimmer in the Olympics and other international competitions. She understands the importance of mental health in helping athletes achieve their best and supports the team every day to reach their goals.  

Albertin Montoya  

  • Head coach Albertin Montoya was born in Cuba before coming to the U.S., where he’d become a professional soccer player and renowned coach at all levels. Read his reflection on the journey from Cuba to the U.S. in a piece in the Mercury News here.
