Bay FC to Honor Latino Heritage on Saturday, October 12

Bay FC is set to celebrate Latino Heritage Month when the club takes on Kansas City Current at PayPal Park 

San Francisco (October 10, 2024) Bay FC, the professional soccer franchise representing the Bay Area in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), will honor Latino Heritage Month at the club’s home match as the continue the tight battle for the playoffs taking on the visiting Kansas City Current on Saturday, October 12 at 7 p.m. PDT at PayPal Park.  

“We want to make sure all members of the Bay FC community have the chance to learn about and celebrate Latino Heritage through our multitude of matchday offerings if they choose,” said CEO Brady Stewart. “At Saturday’s match we’re excited to provide fans with various Latino dance performances, honor community leaders, and provide opportunities for cultural education – we hope everyone enjoys themselves as they take in some sure to be world-class football as well.”  

Latino Heritage Night will showcase Latino-owned small businesses and Latino community members through:  

  • The History Behind Latino Heritage Month: Fans can head to the Spirit Station in the FanFest Area pre-match to further educate themselves via trivia questions on the history of Latin culture as well as with ongoing videoboard features throughout the evening. 
  • Local Latino Community Organization Recognitions: Bay FC will recognize influential Latino community groups of the Bay Area including the Chicana Latina Foundation and the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley on the FanFest Stage pre-match. 
  • National Anthem: The National Anthem will be performed by American singer-songwriter and Netflix actress of Mexican-Chilean descent Gabriela Sepúlveda.  
  • Halftime Performance: San Jose-based Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles dancers are back after their appearance during Bay FC’s Summer Cup matchup against Angel City FC to treat Bay FC fans to another spirited halftime performance.  
  • Spanish-Language Signage and Latino Themed Videos: Fans will be able to cheer on Bay FC with Spanish-language signage displayed throughout the stadium during the evening and enjoy an educational video about arepas with Bay FC Venezuelan Midfielder Deyna Castellanos as well as a feature on Bay FC’s Argentinian Mental Performance Coach Agustina De Giovanni.   
  • Item of the Match: Fans who wish to commemorate the evening can purchase a Bay FC x Latino Heritage Night themed T-shirt designed by Emilio Cortez, a local artist born and raised in San Jose.
