Bay FC Steps into Oracle Park’s History

There are certain ballparks in sports that feel bigger than the game. Ballparks that don’t simply host events but hold memories. They echo with the roar of championships past, the drama of clutch moments, and the tense silence of 40,000 fans holding their breath.

Oracle Park in San Francisco is one of those ballparks.
And now, for one unforgettable day, it’s home to Bay FC.

On Saturday, August 23 at 1:00 p.m. PT, Bay FC will host Washington Spirit for The Show at Oracle Park, presented by Visa.

Oracle Park, Where Legends Come to Play

Perched on the edge of San Francisco Bay, Oracle Park is just as much a destination as it is a ballpark. It’s a place where boats gather in McCovey Cove hoping to catch home run balls, where garlic fries and sunsets define the match day experience, and where the breeze whispers the stories of sports legends’ past.

Oracle Park is home to Major League Baseball’s San Francisco Giants, a role it’s held since the turn of the millennium in 2000. The ballpark’s identity has transformed over the years, yet it continues to stand the test of time through history-making moments.

Among Oracle Park’s many defining milestones:

  • Barry Bonds crowned the Major League Baseball’s Home Run King in 2007 after 756 home runs
  • Tim Lincecum threw a no-hitter against the Padres in 2014, following in the footsteps of Jonathan Sánchez who achieved the same feat in 2009
  • The start of a dynasty—Giants World Series championship in 2010, 2012, and 2014
  • Matt Cain’s perfect game, the first in Giants history and only the 22nd in the league’s history

Oracle Park is a bucket list ballpark, a symbol of San Francisco, and for one special day, it’s converting into a soccer pitch for Bay FC to Play Ball!

Transforming the Diamond to the Pitch

Oracle Park is known for its baseball, but soccer also finds a place here. The San Francisco ballpark has welcomed world-class soccer clubs including Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Club América.

  • Real Madrid vs. Club América (2022)
The legendary Spanish club Real Madrid faced Mexico’s Club América in a highly anticipated Soccer Champions Tour friendly. A capacity crowd watched the two dominators battle to an exciting 2–2 draw.
  • La Liga Summer Tour Featuring Sevilla FC, Atlético de Madrid, Real Betis Balompié & Real Sociedad (2023)
Oracle Park hosted a high-profile La Liga Summer Tour double-header on August 5, 2023. The matches brought elite Spanish football to San Francisco.
  • U.S. Men’s National Team vs. Japan (2006)
In an international friendly before the FIFA World Cup on February 10, 2006, Oracle Park hosted the U.S. Men’s National Team as they faced Japan. The U.S. earned a 3–2 win in front of a lively crowd, with Eddie Pope, Clint Dempsey and Taylor Twellman scoring goals.
  • Manchester City vs. Club América (2011)
On July 16, 2011, English Premier League club Manchester City faced Mexico’s Club América in a World Football Challenge match at Oracle Park. City claimed a 2–0 win, putting on a Premier League-level show for Bay Area Fans.
  • Everton vs. Juventus (2013)
As part of the International Champions Cup, Oracle Park hosted Everton and Juventus on July 31, 2013. The match ended 1–1 in regulation, with Everton winning 6–5 in a dramatic penalty shootout, delivering one of the ballpark’s most thrilling soccer finishes.

Oracle Park’s roots run deep in baseball, but soccer is another integral part of its legacy. Bay FC will add to that history as the first women’s professional soccer team alongside Washington Spirit to play at Oracle Park.

Bay FC Writes a New Chapter at Oracle Park

Bay FC is no stranger to firsts and playing at Oracle Park is another bold moment in their ambitious journey as a new franchise. They kicked off their NWSL journey as a 2024 expansion team, packed PayPal Park with sold-out crowds, and built a roster loaded with international talent and local standouts. Bay FC continues to redefine what it means to be a sports team in the Bay Area.

Bay FC vs. Washington Spirit at Oracle Park is more than a match. It’s a collision of talent and the excitement of professional women’s soccer. It’s a night where San Francisco soccer fans will remember the passionate crowd and that feeling of “I was there!”

Bay FC is writing themselves into Oracle Park’s history, and you can too. Fans will carve their name into the ballpark with their energy, their noise, and their joy.
