Alyssa Malonson, Tess Boade, Katelyn Rowland, Rachel Hill, Sierra Enge added to Bay FC roster on draft night
San Francisco, Calif. (Dec. 15, 2023) – Bay FC, the Bay Area’s new women’s professional soccer franchise and a member of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), selected five players in the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft that took place virtually this evening. Bolstering their roster, Bay FC added defender Alyssa Malonson, forward Tess Boade, goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland, forward Rachel Hill and midfielder Sierra Enge.
Alyssa Malonson
Previous Team: OL Reign
Position: Defender

Birthdate: April 9, 1999
Hometown: Spring, Texas
College: Auburn
BIO: Originally drafted by the North Carolina Courage in the 2021 NWSL Draft, Malonson was acquired by OL Reign ahead of the 2022 season. In July 2022, she went on loan to Danish side FC Nordsjælland and played in 13 matches, making 11 starts. She returned to OL Reign ahead of the 2023 season and made nine appearances across all NWSL competitions with two starts and one assist. Malonson attended Auburn University from 2017-21, recording four goals and 23 assists in 97 games across her career. During her fifth-year season in 2021, she was named SEC Defender of the Year and First Team All-SEC.
Tess Boade

College: Duke
BIO: Selected by NJ/NY Gotham FC in 2021 NWSL Draft, Boade did not appear in a match for the club and signed with the North Carolina Courage ahead of the 2022 season. Across two seasons with North Carolina, Boade appeared in 24 matches across all NWSL competitions (21 starts), recording four goals and four assists. During the 2023 season, she helped the Courage win the NWSL Challenge Cup and qualify for the NWSL playoffs. In college, Boade played 93 games for the Blue Devils, tallying 23 goals and 15 assists across five seasons, earning First Team All-ACC honors in 2021.
Katelyn Rowland

BIO: Rowland is a four-time NWSL Champion (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) and two-time NWSL Challenge Cup winner (2022, 2023). Playing most of her career with North Carolina (2017-21, 2022-23), she was the starting goalkeeper for the Courage in their run to the 2018 title. During her NWSL career, Rowland has appeared in 83 matches (83 starts) with 28 shutouts across all NWSL competitions. At the youth international level, she represented the United States at U-15, U-17, U-20 and U-23 levels, starting in the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Rachel Hill

BIO: Hill has played in 140 matches (99 starts) across all NWSL competitions, playing for the Orlando Pride (2017-19), Chicago Red Stars (2020-22) and San Diego Wave FC (2023). During her career in the league, Hill has tallied 17 goals and three assists. In 2023 season, Hill helped San Diego secure the NWSL Shield, playing in 17 games (15 starts) for the club. Originally drafted in 2017 out of the University of Connecticut by Portland Thorns FC, Hill also played professionally in Australia with Western Sydney Wanderers and in Sweden with Linköping.
Sierra Enge
Previous Team: San Diego Wave FC
Position: Midfielder

Birthdate: Feb. 23, 2000
Hometown: Cardiff, Calif.
College: Stanford
BIO: Enge appeared in 14 games (11 starts), tallying three goals in her first NWSL season as she helped lead San Diego to the NWSL Shield in 2023. The 13th pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft, Enge played for Stanford from 2019-22, appearing in 79 games (57 games) during her career. A National Champion in 2019, Enge recorded five goals and 13 assists for the Cardinal.
