While the NWSL paused for its midseason break, several Bay FC players stayed busy with international duty and development opportunities.
The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) featured Bay FC forwards Asisat Oshoala (Nigeria) and Racheal Kundananji (Zambia), and each player made their mark with their national club.
Playing with the Super Falcons for the first time since the 2024 Paris Olympics, Oshoala played in four matches and scored once, contributing to Nigeria’s run to the WAFCON title, which included a 5-0 win over Kundananji’s Zambia squad in the quarterfinals.
Kundananji, meanwhile, had another strong tournament with Zambia, scoring in each of her three group stage matches and finishing with three goals in four appearances. She has now scored 29 goals for her nation since making her senior debut in 2018, featuring at the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris.
Back stateside, Emmie Allen and Taylor Huff both participated in the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team camp in Commerce City, Colorado, from June 23 to July 2. The camp overlapped with the U.S. Women’s National Team, giving head coach Emma Hayes and her staff the chance to observe training sessions.
Allen’s invite marked her first to a national team program at any level, while Huff was making her third appearance in the U.S. National Team program of the year.
With all players back in the Bay, the club now turns its focus back to the NWSL regular season—and the push for a strong second half will begin with Saturday’s home match against the Houston Dash.
