Slaton, Boade, and Dydasco discuss South Bay favorites in Check, Please! Bay Area

Bay FC Founder Danielle Slaton, forward Tess Boade, and defender Caprice Dydasco joined Leslie Sbrocco on KQED’s award-winning series, Check, Please! Bay Area to share their favorite South Bay restaurants.

The episode kicked off with Slaton discussing how the Bay Area needed a pro women’s soccer team and how Bay FC was founded.

After speaking a little bit about soccer, the conversations on food began with Boade sharing her post-game hangout; Orchard City Kitchen, located in Campbell.

“It has quickly become my favorite restaurant,” Boade said. “It’s kind of new-style American with a bit of an Asian twist.”

Born and raised in Hawaii, Dydasco grew up eating Japanese noodles. Dydasco shared how she loves eating ramen and when she craves it, she enjoys eating at HiroNori Craft Ramen, located in Cupertino.

“It’s been hard to find a good ramen place in certain places I’ve lived in,” Dydasco said. But In Cupertino, this place is a go-to.”

Slaton shared a hometown favorite of hers to eat Mexican food; Las Cazuelas in San Jose’s Historic Alameda District.

“I do remember going to this restaurant as a kid and that’s why I chose it,” Slaton said. “It’s just a go-to spot for us on a nice evening.”

The three went around the table discussing with Sbrocco the dishes they tried and enjoyed from each location.

Lastly, the episode wrapped up with reporter Cecilia Phillips trying the food trucks at PayPal Park during Bay FC’s Pride Night.
