Bay FC Welcomes WNBA Champion Sabrina Ionescu as Latest Investor and Commercial Advisor to the Club

The three-time WNBA All-Star and Bay Area Native will advise on commercial strategy in her new role with the Club

SAN FRANCISCO (March 3, 2025) Bay FC, the professional soccer franchise representing the Bay Area in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), today announced 2024 WNBA Champion, three-time WNBA All-Star, 2024 Paris Gold Medalist, and Bay Area native Sabrina Ionescu joins the Club as the latest Bay FC Investor and will be an official Commercial Advisor to the Club. Ionescu, who was born in Walnut Creek, California and attended Miramonte High School in Orinda, will partner with the organization on commercial strategy and support Bay FC athletes as they work to build their portfolio of brand endorsements.

“I am excited to join Bay FC as an investor and commercial advisor for the latest NWSL team,” said Ionescu. “I have full faith in the Club’s vision and its potential to make a profound impact within and beyond women’s soccer. The Bay FC team and I look forward to driving branding partnerships for the Bay FC athletes and contributing to the overall success of the Club. As someone with deep ties to the Bay Area, this opportunity holds even more significance, and I am truly honored to be a part of such a special endeavor to continue to grow women’s sports.”

Ionescu’s notoriety and business prowess are evident as she was the first women’s basketball player to have a unisex signature collection with Nike – the Sabrina 1 in 2023. On the heels of the success of the Sabrina 1’s, the Sabrina 2’s launched in 2024 and became the most-worn current new basketball shoe across the NBA. Ionescu is also an ambassador for Body Armor, Fanatics, AT&T, Michelob Ultra, and more.

“Sabrina is the ultimate innovator and creates new pathways for aspiring and current professional athletes.  Adding her passion and vision to what we are building at Bay FC will allow us to further disrupt the sports landscape,” said Bay FC CEO Brady Stewart. “Her roots in the Bay Area and commitment to being a catalyst for positive change in women’s sports represents who we are at Bay FC.  We look forward to partnering with her to continue reaching our goal of being a top global sports franchise.”
