Match Preview: Bay FC at Houston Dash | November 2, 2024

Bay FC (10W-14L-1D; 31 pts) takes on Houston Dash (5W-15L-5D; 20 pts) on Saturday, November 2 at 6:30 p.m. on the road at Shell Energy Stadium. Bay FC is in control of their playoff destiny and can clinch a spot with a positive result this weekend. Check out the watch parties happening in the Bay Area and join fellow Bay FC fans to take in this crucial final match of our inaugural season.  

Bay FC will qualify for the playoffs with the following results this weekend: 

  • Bay FC win or draw against Houston on Saturday OR 
  • Bay FC loss against Houston + Louisville draw or loss against San Diego on Sunday OR 
  • Bay FC loss against Houston + Portland loss against Angel City FC + (Bay FC goal differential > Portland) 

Depending on the weekend’s results, Bay FC can finish in sixth, seventh, or eighth place in the standings with a win or a draw. Portland hosts Angel City FC on Friday, Nov. 1, with Bay FC playing on Saturday. Louisville concludes the weekend on the road against San Diego Wave FC on Sunday, Nov. 3.  

With one more win, Bay FC will set a record for most wins (11) in an expansion season. The team tied the record set by San Diego Wave FC during the 2022 season, earning their 10th win on Oct. 19 against the North Carolina Courage. Bay FC could become just the second expansion side to qualify for the playoffs in their first season, along with San Diego (2022). 

Watch: The match will be broadcast on ION for all fans based in the U.S. Internationally, the match will be broadcast in Australia on Optus, in Africa on ESPN, and in the UK and Ireland on TNT Sports. Fans in all territories not listed can watch on NWSL+.

Last Matchup: Bay FC played Houston Dash in the inaugural season home opener at PayPal Park on March 30. In the back-and-forth match, Deyna Castellanos scored her first goal for Bay FC and Racheal Kundananji became the first Zambian player to score in the NWSL. Bay FC ultimately fell 2-3 after a goal by Havana Solaun at 90+10’.
