Fresh Faces to Watch in Bay Area Soccer: Meet Bay FC’s New Players

Bay FC is attracting attention in the 2025 NWSL season, thanks in part to an exciting group of new signings. These fresh faces were brought in during the NWSL offseason and have made their debut with Bay FC this 2025 season. The players are a mix of established footballers and on-the-rise talent. Meet the latest additions to the Bay FC roster, Karlie Lema, Taylor Huff, Kelli Hubly, and Hannah Bebar, who are quickly becoming well-known names in Bay Area soccer.

Karlie Lema

POSITION: FORWARD | NUMBER: 5 | AGE: 21 | HOMETOWN: MORGAN HILL, CALIFORNIA

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Karlie Lema is living out a dream by representing her home club and putting Bay Area soccer on the map. After four seasons at Cal where she was one of the country’s top offensive players, Lema earned her first professional contract soon after graduation. In her college career, Lema tallied 31 goals and 76 appearances. She also represented U.S. Youth National Teams throughout her youth career.

Lema has started six matches and notched two goals early in her first pro career with Bay FC. Fast and technical in the final third, Lema is a dangerous presence on Bay FC’s attack. As a Bay Area local, she loves playing at home in front of her friends and family. If Lema weren’t a professional soccer player, she would want to be a nurse or work with animals.

Off the field, Lema’s close friendship with fellow rookie Taylor Huff is helping both players prosper in their first pro season.

Taylor Huff

POSITION: MIDFIELDER | NUMBER: 7 | AGE: 22 | HOMETOWN: MANSFIELD, OHIO

Rookie Taylor Huff as made her mark quickly with Bay FC. A three-time collegiate All-American and 2023 NCAA College Cup champion, Huff joined Bay FC after a notable career at Florida State University and Tennessee. Her soccer journey began in her backyard, where she spent countless hours playing with her sister.

Huff is already gaining national attention as a rising star on the Bay FC roster. She was recently called into the U.S. U-23 Women’s National Team’s spring training camp which is a reflection of both her potential and early-season performance. On the field, she’s been a relentless presence for Bay FC, sprinting end-to-end and serving as a true engine in the midfield.

Huff has started every match in her rookie season, and through the first seven matches, was the only rookie in the NWSL to play every single minute. She made her first assist to Penelope Hocking when Bay FC played Angel City FC on May 17. Off the field, Huff sticks to a few personal rituals: she always puts her left sock and shoe on first and listens to Alpha Waves before matches.

Kelli Hubli

POSITION: DEFENDER | NUMBER: 20 | AGE: 30 | HOMETOWN: ELK GROVE VILLAGE, ILLINOIS

Kelli Hubly is the newest asset to the Bay FC roster. Her professional soccer experience spans eight seasons and two NWSL Championships with Portland Thorns FC. During her 2024 season at Portland Thorns, she made 24 appearances, over 2,000 minutes of playtime. She helped Portland to the second-most clean sheets in regular season play (58) and tallied 129 appearances across all competitions in eight seasons, among the top marks in club history. She also earned four total trophies with Portland including the NWSL Shield and Challenge Cup in 2021. Hubly played collegiately at the University of Kentucky and DePaul University where she tallied 11 goals.

Now signed with Bay FC through 2026, Hubly is ready to hold the defensive line and contribute her seasoned experience to Bay FC. Hubly made her Bay FC debut when she started and played for 65 minutes at the Bay FC season opener against Utah Royals FC on March 15 at the America First Stadium.

Hannah Bebar

POSITION: MIDFIELDER | NUMBER: 41 | AGE: 23 | HOMETOWN: NAPERVILLE, ILLINOIS

Midfielder Hannah Bebar arrived at Bay FC with a resume that’s as impressive academically as it is athletically. Bebar was a two-time All-American at Harvard before completing her collegiate career at Duke where she was also named an All-American. Beyond soccer, Bebar completed her master’s degree at Duke.

Bebar is a long-time U.S. Youth National Team player and has represented the U.S. at almost every level of the U.S. Youth National Teams.
