Bay FC (6W-10L-0D; 18 pts) travels to Sandy, Utah to take on Utah Royals FC (2W-11L-3D; 9 pts) on Friday, August 23 at 6:30 p.m. PT at America First Field. The match will be streamed locally on NBC Sports Bay Area+ and internationally on NWSL+.
This is the second meeting between the two expansion sides this season, with Utah earning a 1-0 win over Bay in their first matchup on June 16 after scoring a late goal. Kate Del Fava, who has played every match for Utah so far this season, found the winning goal.
Utah has gone through a few changes since Bay FC last faced them in June. Jimmy Coenraets took on the role of interim head coach following the dismissal of Amy Rodriguez. Over the summer, Utah signed Mina Tanaka, Claudia Zornoza and Cloé Lacasse, all of whom have yet to make their NWSL debuts.
In their first NWSL match following the Olympic break, Bay FC will look to capitalize on the return of offensive powerhouses Asisat Oshoala and Racheal Kundananji. Kundananji scored two goals for Zambia during their Olympic campaign.
Before the break, Bay FC had been on a strong run of away match form, earning consecutive wins against Chicago Red Stars and Racing Louisville FC. With a win against Utah, Bay FC would become the first expansion team in NWSL history to record a three-match road winning streak in their first season.
