Bay FC and Sutter Health will host a Moms’ Clinic on Sunday, August 10, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. PT at 24-7UK Soccer in Oakland, California. The event is part of Bay FC’s “B You” initiative, a program designed to address prevalent barriers in sports that hinder young women’s participation and wellbeing. The clinic will feature Bay FC defender Emily Menges.
The event will be co-led by coaches from the Women’s Coaching Alliance, a global network based in the Bay Area that supports training and the empowerment of women coaches, and Sutter’s Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group clinicians Rakhi Mehrotra, M.D. and Francesca Dalingin, DPT.
Mehrotra and Dalangin will discuss with the moms the importance of incorporating body positive thoughts into their athletes’ routines and practicing exercises that can help prevent ACL injuries, both barriers in sports for young girls. The clinic is designed to introduce moms unfamiliar with the game to the fundamentals of soccer and basic coaching techniques—helping them actively participate in their children’s growth.
