Bay FC and Sutter Health Host Youth Soccer Jamboree to Empower Young Female Athletes

On October 13, Bay FC and their Front of Kit sponsor and Official Medical Provider, Sutter Health, teamed up to host a lively Youth Soccer Jamboree as part of their “B You” initiative. The event, held at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley’s Alviso Clubhouse in San Jose, brought together over 100 female athletes aged 8–14 for an afternoon focused on skill-building and health.

Young participants rotated through soccer drills, learned from Sutter Health clinicians, and trained alongside Bay FC Co-Founder Leslie Osborne and players Penelope Hocking, Leah Freeman, Caroline Conti and Melissa Lowder.

The Jamboree is a key event for the “B You” initiative, which is now in its second year and is designed to empower young women through sports, health education and leadership. The program specifically targets common barriers to continued sports participation, focusing on mental health, injury prevention, girls’ health and body positivity.

“Investing in young athletes is a collaborative effort that requires parents, coaches, mentors, and medical professionals working together to overcome barriers that too often discourage girls from participating in sports,” said Lisa Goodwin Scharff, Bay FC Executive Vice President of Communications, Community Impact, and Public Affairs.

The energy and commitment at the Jamboree highlight the shared mission of Bay FC and Sutter Health to create a lasting, positive impact on the next generation of female athletes across the Bay Area.
