Bay FC Opens Scholarship Applications for Bay Area High School Seniors in San Mateo and Marin Counties

Local high school seniors are invited to apply for a $5,000 scholarship as part of the Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (Jan. 12, 2026) – Bay FC today announced the club has opened applications for the Bay Area All-Star Scholarship Team (BAASST), returning for a second year as part of the regional scholarship program supporting Bay Area high school seniors pursuing higher education. Bay FC participates in the program alongside the Golden State Valkyries, Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, San Jose Earthquakes, and San Jose Sharks.  

BAASST awards $5,000 annually to five graduating seniors, with recipients recognized during home games of participating professional sports teams across the region. The 2025-26 application cycle is now open through February 6, and each team is responsible for nominating local students in their respective territories across the nine counties in the Bay Area. Bay FC’s territory comprises participating public high schools in San Mateo and Marin counties.  

How To Apply
To be nominated, a teacher or school administrator must submit the scholarship candidate with a letter of recommendation describing the unique qualities, achievements, and circumstances that make the student an exceptional scholarship nominee. The nominated student then must submit an application form, a two- to three-page essay, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation, detailed below.    

Student applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration by Bay FC:  

  • Be a college-bound senior currently attending a participating public high school in San Mateo or Marin County. 
  • Have a Tax ID Number. 
  • Display leadership qualities in the classroom. 
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 from sophomore to senior year of high school.  
  • Demonstrate the value of education, good work ethic, and community outreach.  

Each student must submit the following information to complete this application: 

  • BAASST application form. An example can be found here
  • A two- to three-page essay explaining why they are a deserving BAASST candidate, taking into consideration academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.  
  • Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives. The teacher, principal, or counselor who nominated the student must write one of the letters of recommendation.  
  • Official transcripts from each high school attended.

Completed application with recommendations and transcript and essay must be mailed by February 6, 2026. All materials must be submitted in one file via email in PDF format to the Bay FC Community Team at moc.cfyabobfsctd-1add2b@ytinummoc.
