Jen Beattie hosts Pink Ribbon Good Breast Cancer Walk & Talk

Bay FC defender Jen Beattie hosted a Walk and Talk in Los Gatos for members of local non-profit chapter Pink Ribbon Good, which helps to provide support for those going through breast cancer treatment. As a breast cancer survivor herself, Beattie continues to raise awareness of the importance of early detection in both women and men.

Beattie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020 at the age of 29; she fought and won the battle and is currently in remission.

“I had no idea what a mammogram was, I had no idea what the machine looked like,” Beattie said. “I didn’t really know at that point how to check yourself properly, so when I was going through it, my brother and my sister were a huge support.”

Beattie shared her journey and how she motivated herself to keep her body active while receiving treatment.

“I remember breaking down to friends and family on the phone all the time, but that’s okay,” Beattie said. “It’s normal to do that, it’s part of the process.”

After speaking with the breast and/or gynecological cancer patients, survivors, and thrivers, Beattie joined the group for a walk.

Beattie is working with Pink Ribbon Good, to raise awareness in the Bay Area about breast health.
