The Bay Area always opened its doors for those to arrive as themselves. The region never asked people to assimilate to the status quo. Instead, it asked people to simply bring what they have — their background, their perspective, their knowledge. That is how this region was built, and it is the reason the Bay Area became one of the most diverse areas in the world.
Bay FC was created with that same ideology by opening its doors to every player eager to show up as themselves. The roster of players stretches across five countries and four continents, which is a reflection of the region’s multiculturalism.
When Racheal Kundananji arrived at Bay FC by way of Zambia, she brought the kind of drive that comes from growing up with limited access to the very game she now plays at the highest level. That experience is visible in the impact she has made representing the Bay Area. Off the pitch, she founded the Racheal Kundananji Legacy Foundation to expand access to football for young women in Zambia. Last season, she partnered with Soccer Without Borders to support immigrant and refugee youth in Oakland and was named one of the Bay Area’s most inspiring women of 2025.
On the pitch, Kundananji became Bay FC’s all-time leading scorer, found the net on behalf of Zambia at the Olympics, and earned a nomination for CAF Women’s Player of the Year. She brought her whole story to the Bay Area, and both the club and the community are better for it.

When Cristiana Girelli arrived from Juventus in her home country of Italy, she brought with her over 100 goals for the Bianconere and a football intelligence cultivated across a decade in Serie A. She entered the Italian Football Hall of Fame in 2022, has represented the Italian national team since 2013, and has competed at four European Championships and two FIFA Women’s World Cups.
That kind of career adds quality to a roster and raises the standard of everyone around it. At Bay FC, Girelli is the player younger teammates measure themselves against. Her two assists already this 2026 NWSL season are just a fraction of what she brings to Bay FC.

When Aldana Cometti arrived from Buenos Aires after her time at Lyon, she brought with her invaluable qualities earned from years of captaining at the international level. Argentina’s all-time appearances leader with over 100 caps, Cometti has represented her country at two FIFA Women’s World Cups and led the side most recently during the April international break. She’s earned the trust of her country and learned how to lead a group of players through the largest pressures the game has to offer.
That same leadership is what she brings to Bay FC every single week. It shows up in how she organizes a defensive line, communicates with the players around her, and carries herself on the pitch.

When Anouk Denton arrived from West Ham United and Keira Barry from Manchester United, they brought a clear sense of what they are capable of and the drive to prove it at Bay FC. At 22, Denton made her senior England debut in December 2025 after establishing herself as one of the WSL’s most consistent defenders, starting 19 of 20 league matches last season. At just 20, Barry, a forward and Manchester United academy product, earned her first call-up to the full England squad for the April World Cup qualifiers. Both arrived in the Bay Area knowing some of their best football is still ahead of them, and Bay FC is where they intend to show it.

What makes this roster work isn’t that these players adapted to a single system. It’s that each of them brought their own game, their own football language, their own competitive identity, and the club was built to hold all of it. The Bay Area became what it is because of the people who didn’t leave their identity at the door. They showed up fully and made the Bay Area richer.
The inclusive, authentic spirit of the Bay Area fuels Bay FC in the stands just as much as on the pitch. This community was built for everyone, from the day ones to those experiencing PayPal Park for the very first time. Just show up, be yourself, and Bring the Bay!
