Saturday, September 27 marks a special occasion for Bay FC fans as the team hosts the Utah Royals FC in its second-to-last regular-season home match at PayPal Park. This fixture represents one of the final opportunities to witness Bay FC in action on home turf and observe the progress made in the club’s second season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT, with gates opening at 5 p.m. to provide Bay FC fans with ample time to enjoy the pre-match activities.

Live Entertainment at San Jose’s PayPal Park

Get to the match early and enjoy live music from notable Bay Area entertainment groups.

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus (SFGMC), the world’s first openly gay chorus, will perform the National Anthem at PayPal Park. Its inaugural performance took place on the steps of City Hall with 100 members who sang to advocate for equality and stand against discrimination. This historic event inspired a worldwide LGBTQIA+ choral movement. Today, with more than 300 members, the SFGMC continues to use the power of music to unite diverse people and communities.

The University of California Marching Band, widely known as the Cal Band, is one of the oldest college marching bands on the West Coast and will perform during halftime. Notably, the band is almost entirely student-run. The Cal Band has achieved national recognition, performing at events such as the Super Bowl 50 halftime show, the Golden State Warriors’ championship parade and even an appearance on the television show Wheel of Fortune. Bay FC is excited to welcome them back to PayPal Park.

Led by vocalist Citlali Morfin, Farseid is a versatile band that brings a fresh perspective to a variety of musical genres. They will perform a live set as part of the pre-match FanFest entertainment at PayPal Park for Bay FC’s second to last regular-season home match.

Appearance from Veteran Bay FC Defender Jen Beattie

Bay FC legend and decorated defender, Jen Beattie, will be at PayPal Park to sign autographs for fans during FanFest. Beattie’s professional legacy is defined by a remarkable 18-year soccer career, which concluded with her serving as a player on Bay FC’s inaugural roster. A true legend of the sport, she amassed an impressive 14 major trophies across four countries, including five league titles, four FA Cups and four League Cups in England. In addition, Beattie earned 143 caps and scored 24 goals for the Scottish national team before retiring.

Beyond her on-field achievements, Beattie became an inspirational community figure. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, she used her platform to raise awareness about preventative care and advocate for change. Beattie’s commitment to helping others was recognized with last year’s Lauren Holiday Impact Award, an honor given to a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) player who demonstrates outstanding service and character off the pitch. She was also awarded the BBC’s Helen Rollason Award for outstanding achievement in the face of adversity. Beattie made her retirement from play with Bay FC after she made eight appearances in their inaugural 2024 season.

Performance Highlights: A Look at the NWSL Teams

Although both clubs have a steep hill to climb to get back into playoff contention, this match at PayPal Park serves as a crucial opportunity to showcase the collective growth of two of the league’s newest franchises. Bay FC, which made its inaugural debut in 2024, and the Utah Royals, which re-entered the league this year, will look to end their seasons on a high note.

Bay FC opened the 2025 NWSL season with a hard-fought 1-1 draw on the road against the Utah Royals and earned their first point in the process. With the 2025 regular season now in its final stretch, Bay FC faces the Royals once more in a final push to secure a win against the club.

Utah Royal FC’s Key Player: Mina Tanaka

Despite being in 13th place, the Royals have been in strong form as of late and are entering this match on a six-match unbeaten streak. Their recent 3-2 victory over Racing Louisville showcased a developing attacking rhythm and a notable performance from Utah forward Mina Tanaka.

Mina Tanaka is a star player for the Royals and has contributed three goals and one assist this season. Her unique journey—reaching out to the Utah club herself—speaks to her ambition to be part of a NWSL team’s growth. Tanaka came from Kobe Leonessa of Japan’s WE League where she played 58 matches and scored 37 goals.

Bay FC’s Key Player: Caprice Dydasco

On Bay FC’s side, Caprice Dydasco continues to be a crucial presence on both ends of the field, holding down the defense while also creating opportunities. Her exceptional play in June earned her a spot on the NWSL Best XI. She led all players in the league that month with 11 interceptions and was a defensive stalwart, ranking first among defenders in both duels won (26) and tackles won (8). Dydasco also recently reached a significant career milestone, surpassing 15,000 career minutes in the NWSL. Her technical ability was on full display in a recent assist against Orlando Pride, where she delivered a perfectly weighted ball from midfield for Racheal Kundananji to head home.
