Looking Back at Bay FC’s History-Making Inaugural Home Opener

After 154 days without a home match in front of the Bay’s faithful, Bay FC hosts Racing Louisville FC on March 22 at PayPal Park for the 2025 Home Opener presented by Sutter Health. Tickets to the Home Opener are available online now, and it’s the perfect time to secure your seats for this in-demand weekend.

From the pitch to the concourse, Bay FC knows how to turn a match into a full-on festival. Let’s get ready for this year’s party at PayPal Park with a look back at all the action from Bay FC’s historic Inaugural Home Opener, which welcomed the team home with unrivaled fanfare and celebration.

Fans were eager to cement their names in history and take in everything the stadium had to offer. The crowd lined up in anticipation before gates opened. Once inside the stadium, fans could enjoy everything from a 360-degree photo booth, live drum performances, a DJ and Emcee in FanFest, face painting, mini games and more. There were even celebrity sightings, like fan-favorite Flemish Giant rabbit Alex the Great, and of course, the opportunity to cheer Bay FC players taking to the pitch from the skywalk inside the stadium.

2024’s Home Opener broke records in the Bay Area and packed the stadium to the brim. The match marked the largest stand-alone women’s professional soccer crowd in Bay Area history.

Bay FC’s Founding Four saw their vision for a player-led team that unites the Bay Area come to life. They addressed the crowd from the pitch to thank fans for their support and kick off the fire player introductions. The Co-Founder and U.S. Women’s National Team Legend Brandi Chastain was home captain for the match and led the crowd in a rousing cheer.

Before Bay FC’s inaugural roster lit up the pitch, they were welcomed with an epic show. Each player on the inaugural match’s Starting XI was introduced to the Bay Area crowd with flames and fireworks, creating an unforgettable moment for fans and athletes alike.

On a night full of iconic moments, Racheal Kundananji made an indelible mark on not just the Bay Area, but the entire league. With her epic goal at 90+3, she became the first Zambian player to score a goal in NWSL history. Her debut set the tone for an incredible first season with Bay FC, sparking the offense with nine goal contributions. In season two, expect Kundananji to excite and inspire with more feisty plays on the pitch.

The 2024 Home Opener set the precedent for iconic moments in Bay Area sports, and Bay FC looks to bring the same energy and excitement into the 2025 iteration. With plenty of fun in store, including a vibrant poppy rally towel giveaway for the first 13,000 attendees, Bay FC’s 2025 Home Opener on March 22 is set to deliver thrills for fans of all ages.
