Match Preview: Bay FC at Kansas City Current | April 20, 2024

Following a 3-2 victory at home against Seattle Reign FC, Bay FC heads back on the road to face the Kansas City Current on Saturday, April 20; kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. (Pacific) at CPKC Stadium. The match will be broadcast nationally on ION.

Internationally, the match will be available this week on the following broadcasters: Optus in Australia, Canal11 in Portugal, and ESPN in Africa (including Nigeria, Ghana, and Zambia). For other audiences in territories not listed above, including fans from the UK, Canada and Venezuela, the match will continue to be available on NWSL+

After four matches in league play, Bay FC ranks sixth in the NWSL standings with two wins and two losses, and have notched seven goals. Bay FC has had seven different goal-scorers so far this season (Asisat Oshoala, Deyna Castellanos, Dorian Bailey, Racheal Kundananji, Kayla Sharples, Alex Loera, and Joelle Anderson). They’ll face a tough test on the road against top-ranked Kansas City, who have yet to lose a match. 

The April 20 match marks Bay FC’s first visit to Kansas City and the opportunity for Bay FC midfielder Alex Loera to square off against her former team. Loera, Bay FC’s first-ever signing, was acquired via trade with the Current in November 2023. Earlier this week, Loera was awarded NWSL’s Goal of the Week for her powerful strike against Seattle on April 14.
