Bay FC (9W-12L-1D; 28 pts) travels to Red Bull Arena to face NJ/NY Gotham FC (13W-4L-5D; 44 pts) on Saturday, October 5 at 4:30 p.m. PDT.
Fresh off a 1-0 victory against Seattle Reign FC last weekend, Bay FC is in playoff contention and looking for a consecutive result on the road to maintain their tight lead over 9th place Racing Louisville FC. Depending on results over the weekend, Bay FC has the opportunity to climb as high as 6th place. The battle for playoffs is now. Click here to keep an eye on the latest NWSL standings.
Defending NWSL Champions Gotham FC boasts a strong roster with several international stars. In the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, six Gotham players made appearances for the U.S. Women’s National Team to help win gold, and goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger helped Germany seal the bronze. Gotham has won seven of its last nine home matches and currently sits in third place in the league table.
Despite the tough task at hand, Bay FC is up to the challenge after earning points in four of its last five matches—including three wins. With five road wins so far this season, Bay FC currently has the third-most road wins for an NWSL team in their inaugural season. Asisat Oshoala has shone brightly for Bay after returning from the Olympics, scoring winning goals against Louisville and Seattle as well as the tying goal against North Carolina Courage. Bay FC also has not allowed more than one goal against an opponent in NWSL play since the arrival of Abby Dahlkemper on August 26.
