Alex Pfeiffer was nominated for NWSL Player of the Week after a standout debut with Bay FC.
Bay FC kicked off their home opener on March 14 with a 2-1 win over expansion side Denver Summit, and one player made sure the afternoon would be remembered.
Alex Pfeiffer, who recently graduated from high school, made her Bay FC debut like she’d been doing this for years. Just eight minutes in, she carried a ricochet pass down the right flank and calmly slotted it into the left corner, marking her first goal for the club and only the second of her NWSL career.
“Today means a lot,” Pfeiffer said after the match. “I haven’t scored in two years, so I’m just super grateful to be given the opportunity to come here to Bay FC and just to be who I am. I’m loving it so far.”
But she wasn’t done. At the half-hour mark, with the ball at her feet, Pfeiffer picked out Joelle Anderson at the top of the penalty area to set up what proved to be the match-winning goa. Pfeiffer’s goal and assist marked the fourth time in club history (since 2024) that a player had multiple scoring contributions in the same match.
A recent high school graduate, in her first match, with a goal and an assist. It’s the kind of debut that only comes around once in a while.
