Karlie Lema scored twice in a span of just two and a half minutes in the first half as Bay FC defeated the North Carolina Courage, 3-0, on Saturday, July 18, at PayPal Park. Playing their first home match since May 24, Bay FC opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Lema outran the North Carolina back line to chase down a long pass from Racheal Kundananji. Lema maintained possession through a challenge from the goalkeeper before slotting the ball through on a tight angle. Just 145 seconds later, Lema doubled the advantage, finishing off a perfectly delivered cross from Alex Pfeiffer for her fourth goal in the last three matches. Bay FC carried the 2-0 lead into halftime and added a third goal in the 54th minute when Kundananji capitalized on an errant North Carolina pass and converted her second goal of the season. With the victory, Bay FC earned its first home win since the season opener on March 14. The club has now recorded back-to-back clean sheets and is unbeaten in its last three matches. Bay FC will look to continue that momentum when it visits the Houston Dash on Friday, July 24.
