Bay FC heads out on the road to CPKC Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 3, to close out the season series with the Kansas City Current. This will be the second head-to-head matchup between the two clubs within a month, following their Sept. 4 tilt at PayPal Park that Kansas City won 2-1.

Bay FC will be looking to play the role of spoiler from here on out, as Sunday’s 3-1 loss to Orlando officially eliminated Bay from 2026 playoff contention. Though the club has just one victory in its last six matches, Bay FC has improved in creating chances. Over the last two matches, Bay has out-shot the opponent by 35 over the last two matches. And over the last seven matches, Bay has out-shot the opponent five times.

Crucial to that attack is Alex Pfeiffer. The 18-year-old forward began her pro career in Kansas City, becoming the youngest player in NWSL history to score in a regular season match in March 2024. Midfielder Claire Hutton also formerly played for the Current, helping the club win the 2025 Shield as the NWSL Midfielder of the Year after being a finalist for the Rookie of the Year in 2024.

Kansas City is one of the most complete teams in the NWSL, with an attack built to score in multiple ways and a home environment that amplifies their best football. Haley Hopkins is coming off a three-goal performance against Denver last weekend and reigning two-time MVP Temwa Chawinga leads the club with 11 goals in 15 matches this season. Add to that a supporting cast of Michelle Cooper, Debinha and Croix Bethune, who enters the week tied for the league lead with 10 assists, gives the Current the ability to create and finish chances from anywhere on the field. CPKC Stadium has established itself as one of the league’s toughest away venues, as evidenced by the Current’s unbeaten streak of 30 consecutive NWSL regular-season home matches.
