New multi-year program will support Bay Area women financial decision makers

SAN FRANCISCO (May 15, 2024) – Bay FC, the new women’s professional soccer franchise representing the Bay Area in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), and PNC Bank, the nation’s sixth largest bank, today announced details surrounding their “B Empowered” initiative. Designed to support women financial decision makers, “B Empowered” includes grant funding, panel discussions, financial literacy classes, and more.

“These joint programs are designed to connect, engage, and inspire Bay Area women to achieve their personal and professional financial goals,” said Megan Schoettmer, PNC Bank regional president for Northern California. “At PNC Bank, we are strongly committed to women’s financial success through our numerous women’s business development programs. “B Empowered” is another extension of that and fully aligns with our long-standing commitment to women.”

As part of B Empowered PNC and Bay FC are collaborating on key Bay Area events and initiatives. These include:

  • Women’s Empowerment panel discussion held yesterday, May 14 in Silicon Valley as part of PNC’s Women in Business Week. PNC Chief Investment Officer Amanda Agati, Bay FC Co-founder and U.S. Women’s National Team Legend Aly Wagner, and Cowboy Ventures Partner Robby Robson discussed their journeys to the top of their games and ways to achieve financial success with local female leaders from across the Bay Area.
  • PNC Bank Entitlement Night at PayPal Park in San Jose on Friday, May 17, when Bay FC takes on San Diego Wave FC. The home game will feature PNC giveaways, the highly interactive Mobile Learning Adventure that inspires children to consider future careers, and many more Entitlement Night activities.
  • Financial Empowerment Programs for Bay FC players, coaches, and front office staff are scheduled to take place throughout the season, offering the club players, coaches, and staff financial resources and education.
  • Goals for Grants Program powered by PNC Bank. Through PNC Bank’s sponsorship, Bay FC will donate $1,000 for every Bay FC goal scored this season – up to $25,000 – to local organizations that support women-owned or led businesses in the Bay Area. To date, Bay FC has secured $13,000 with their 13 goals to give to the community at the conclusion of the 2024 regular season.

“Establishing the “B Empowered” platform is another milestone for our club as we continue to invest in our players and communities on and off the pitch,” said Bay FC CEO Brady Stewart. “This platform allows us to further educate female leaders on financial success and showcases the Club’s continued commitment to the Bay Area.”

In February, Bay FC announced a multi-year partnership with PNC Bank, making the financial institution a Founding Partner of the team.
