Bay FC Continues to Build its Roster and Signs Defensive Powerhouse Caprice Dydasco

Dydasco comes from the Houston Dash to anchor the defensive line for Bay FC

San Francisco (Nov. 21, 2023)Bay FC, the Bay Area’s new women’s professional soccer franchise in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), today signed 2021 Defender of the Year Caprice Dydasco to a three-year deal through 2026 to continue to build the club’s roster ahead of their inaugural 2024-2025 season. Dydasco comes from the Houston Dash, where she played right back for the team’s 2022-2023 season.

“A highly technical and intelligent footballer, Caprice’s ability to impact play in the final third and create goalscoring opportunities make her one of the most exciting and productive attacking fullbacks in the league,” said Lucy Rushton, General Manager of Bay FC. “A winning mentality and team-first approach are fundamentals of any Bay FC player and Caprice has both in abundance.”

During her 2023 season with the Dash, Dydasco passed the 10,000-minute mark for the NWSL, marking her as the 32nd player in the league to achieve this accomplishment. Before playing for Houston, Dydasco played for NJ/NY Gotham (2019-2022) and the Washington Spirit (2015-2019) and was named the NWSL’s Defender of the Year in 2021. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Dydasco was a four-year starting defender for UCLA and helped the team win its first NCAA Championship in 2013.

“Bay FC is building something truly unique in the NWSL and the world of women’s sports and I’m so excited to be a part of this team’s legacy,” said defender Caprice Dydasco. “The club has already proven they are top notch and I can’t wait to take the pitch next year for our first season.”

Bay FC is entering its first season in the NWSL and will have the first pick in the 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft set to take place virtually on Friday, December 15. The 2024 NWSL Expansion Draft will air live on CBS Sports Network with coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
