Bay FC Unveils Plans for 2024 Training Facility at San Jose State University

Facility Designed by Bay FC Co-Founders and USWNT Legends

San Francisco (Nov. 14, 2023) – Bay FC, the new women’s professional soccer franchise representing the Bay Area in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), today unveiled plans for its training facility to be located at San José State University (SJSU). The facility, which was designed by Bay FC’s Co-Founders and United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) Legends Danielle Slaton, Aly Wagner, Brandi Chastain, and Leslie Osborne will serve as the team’s dedicated home space heading into its inaugural 2024 season, as the team continues to plan for its own standalone training facility and stadium in the future.

The 3,000-square-foot training facility and locker rooms, designed by the team’s four founders, all with decades of experience in the sport, in partnership with Devcon Construction Incorporated, will feature training access on an adjacent pitch, an indoor-outdoor player changing and relaxation space, getting ready rooms with salon-quality amenities and dedicated spaces for medical, performance and game preparation. “As a professional athlete, your training facilities are like a second home during the season, so it is critical that athletes have a comfortable space for before, during, and after training,” said Danielle Slaton, Senior Vice President of Strategic Projects at Bay FC. “This is just one of the ways we are focusing on supporting our players both on and off the pitch. It begins with this space, distinctly created for women, and will continue to include so much more.”

Bay FC is investing over $2 million to develop this interim facility from the former SJSU football team’s visiting locker room, completely renovating the space to fit the needs of the women’s team. With its proximity to PayPal Park, the team’s 2024 home stadium, the training facility will serve as Bay FC’s primary preparation location for all home games in its inaugural season.

“Our goal with Bay FC is to leave a legacy, not only for the team but for the fans and Bay Area community supporting our team,” said Jen Millet, Chief Operating Officer at Bay FC. “We are continuing to strategize and plan for our long-term stadium and training facility locations but investing in this training facility now is incredibly important, not only for our players but as a lasting Bay FC legacy for SJSU and the soccer community to enjoy for years to come.”
