Bay FC suffered a 3-0 defeat to Gotham FC on Saturday at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. Goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz set a club record and tied the NWSL record with 12 saves, but the defending NWSL champions Gotham FC controlled the pace from the opening kickoff. The scoring got started with a Bay own goal in the 20th minute, and Gotham added scores from U.S. Women’s National Team superstar Rose Lavelle (40th minute) and Spanish star Esther Gonzalez (45th minute) on a penalty kick to send Gotham into halftime with a three-goal advantage. That score held for the rest of the match, as Bay FC suffered its second straight shutout defeat in the regular season to fall to 2W-0D-3L. Bay FC will look to get back on track when the club faces the San Diego Wave FC on Sunday, May 3.
