Bay FC at Washington Spirit

Bay FC knocked on the door on several occasions but couldn’t push one through in Sunday’s 1-0 loss to the Washington Spirit at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. Alex Pfeiffer challenged the Washington goalkeeper with a pair of first-half shots and Karli Lema nearly put in a score off a brilliant cross from Taylor Huff, only to be denied by the woodwork in the 41st minute. But Washington would eventually strike first, as Paige Metayer bodied the ball into the goal after Trinity Rodman’s shot bounced straight down off the crossbar in the fourth minute of first half extra time. That goal would prove to be the difference, as Bay FC dropped the contest despite outshooting the opponent 18-14. Bay FC will look to get back on track when the club returns home on Friday to host the Kansas City Current.
