CENTENNIAL, Colo. (Sept. 16, 2026) – Bay FC earned a point at the death Wednesday in Colorado, playing to a 2-2 draw at Denver Summit FC. After the hosts went up 2-0 with a goal on both sides of halftime, a resilient Bay FC side got to work to get back into the match. Midfielder Claire Hutton got the club back in the contest with a goal in the 73rd minute, before midfielder Taylor Huff leveled the contest in the final moments of second half stoppage time.
Both clubs traded chances throughout the first half as momentum swayed back and forth. Denver got the night going five minutes after the opening whistle when midfielder Natasha Flint headed a cross at goal, but missed the target high. Bay FC answered the early pressure with a close call of its own after forward Racheal Kundananji had a shot blocked from close range. Forward Karlie Lema got on the end of the rebound and nearly put the ball in the back of the net, but the offside flag came up after her shot took a ricochet off the crossbar.
A great play by defender Aldana Cometti kept Denver from a scoring chance in front of goal just before the 20-minute mark. Summit midfielder Lindsey Heaps broke Bay FC’s defensive shape and got out in space with just the keeper to beat, but a perfect tackle from Cometti denied the opportunity with VAR confirming the clean challenge.
The hosts broke the deadlock with three minutes to go in the first half after building up from the back. A through ball from the middle of the pitch put defender Natalie Means in space to serve a low cross into the box, which rolled through traffic before being tapped in by Heaps.
Bay FC found itself in a tense moment coming out of halftime as Denver created a breakaway chance. One-on-one with goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz, Denver forward Melissa Kossler had a big opportunity stopped by a big time save before a follow up attempt by Heaps was cleared off the line by Cometti. Silkowitz went down in discomfort from her initial save but got back up after receiving attention from the club’s medical staff. She remained in the match and finished with seven saves to bring her season total to 98, two away from becoming just the sixth goalkeeper in league history to log 100 saves in a season.
Denver put Bay FC on its heels in the following moments. Silkwoitz came up with another big save to deny Kössler in the 53rd minute, keeping her club’s deficit to one. But the hosts doubled their advantage moments later as the clock approached the hour mark, with defender Janine Sonis getting on the end of a cross from forward Yazmeen Ryan.
Bay FC cut its deficit in half with 20 minutes to go after putting Denver back in its own half. A crafty combination between Hutton and Huff put Hutton in front of goal to slot one through, her second of the season. The club kept pushing for an equalizer and was rewarded for its persistence late, netting the game-tying goal in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time as Huff beat a defender and sent one through the keeper’s legs and into the back of the net.
Bay FC closes out a busy week Sunday, returning home to take on Racing Louisville FC at PayPal Park Sept. 20. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. PT, and the match will broadcast on the Roku Channel as part of the NWSL’s Sunday Night match schedule. Tickets remain available at BayFC.com/tickets.
