Pre-Match & Halftime
As a tribute to Latino culture, FanFest will include entertainment by the Bay Area’s own Mamboléo Latin jazz band, featuring Ysenia Martinez. Moreover, fans can enjoy games, giveaways, and food trucks before the match starts. Ysenia will then sing the national anthem, while the San Jose-based Grupo Folklórico Los Laureles will dance during halftime.
What to Watch on the Pitch
Bay FC delivered one of its most complete performances of the season on Sunday, Sept. 20, earning a 2–0 win over Racing Louisville FC. After dominating the first half, the home team made it official in the second with two goals by forwards Alex Pfeiffer and Karlie Lema. This was Lema’s seventh goal of the season, matching the club record. Goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz picked up some stats as well with her seventh clean sheet of the season and 100th save in a season – making her the sixth player in the league to do so. Bay FC will carry this win to the Orlando Pride match on Sunday, Sept. 27, their final match in September.
Closing out their season play, the clubs last met on Friday, May 29 when Bay FC saw a 1-3 loss. Four minutes in, Orlando forward Barbara Banda scored, followed by midfielder Caroline Conti scoring the first and only goal for Bay FC three minutes later. Since then, Orlando finds itself a few spots up in the league and with some changes in the roster, notably: a contract termination for forward Gabi Nunes, contract extensions for Banda and goalkeeper Cara Martin, loan of forward Simone Jackson, and acquisition of forward Sanne Lekven.
