Match Preview: Bay FC to Close 2026 Season Against San Diego Wave FC on Decision Day

Bay FC Hosts San Diego Wave FC on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2026) – Bay FC closes out its third season this weekend, hosting San Diego Wave FC Sunday, Nov. 1 as part of the NWSL’s Decision Day slate. The final matchweek of the regular season puts final playoff seeding and the NWSL Shield on the line for clubs across the league. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PT, and the match will broadcast live on ESPN+. Tickets remain available at BayFC.com/tickets.

Alongside Sunday’s action, Bay FC will salute its loyal supporters with its Fan Appreciation Match, presented by Visa with special giveaways, activities and prizes throughout the afternoon. With San Diego still in contention for the NWSL Shield, Bay FC looks to spoil their opponent’s chance at the postseason’s number one seed.

Players to Watch

Bay FC goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz: Silkowitz put in a stellar performance in the club’s last match, recording six saves vs. in-state rival Angel City FC. She impacted the game the last time her club faced San Diego, saving a first-half penalty that kept Bay FC’s advantage intact enroute to a 1-0 victory on the road. Entering the final week of the season, Silkowitz ranks second in the league with 114 saves, the second most by a goalkeeper in a single season in NWSL history.

San Diego Wave FC midfielder Gia Corley: San Diego’s recent run of form has coincided with a scoring streak from Corley, who has tallied four goals in six matches since Sept. 12. With an assist Oct. 17 against North Carolina giving her a scoring contribution in five straight matches, Corley has served as the engine to the club’s talented attack.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT

San Diego has surged since mid-September to earn a chance at the NWSL Shield entering the final week of the season. The club is unbeaten in its last six games, scoring 12 goals in that span while recording five consecutive wins since Sept. 12. Since Aug. 14, the Wave have only suffered one defeat. Playing down to 10 players for 70 minutes, San Diego lost at Seattle 1-0.  Last week, San Diego’s five-match winning run came to a halt in a 2-2 draw vs. Boston, where a late Legacy equalizer sent each team back with a point.

Decision Day: What to Know

As it stands heading into Week 27, San Diego sits three points back of the top spot in the league standings, needing a win and a Gotham FC defeat to climb the table and secure the Shield. The Wave can fall as low as third in the standings with any other result, but the team has already secured a top-4 finish and home quarterfinal playoff match. First place will surely be the visitors’ goal Sunday in the regular season finale.

Elsewhere across the league, Gotham FC has control over the Shield race. The defending champions simply need a result, or a Bay FC positive result to secure the NWSL’s top spot. A number of clubs will jockey for seeding position, with four clubs in the running for fourth place and the right to host in the first round of the playoffs. The final playoff berth remains up for grabs and will be taken by one of Seattle Reign FC, Denver Summit FC or the North Carolina Courage, who each sit within three points of one another. Denver and North Carolina meet head-to-head to close their seasons.

Silky with the Stop

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced Tuesday that Bay FC goalkeeper Jordan Silkowitz’s 34th minute save at Angel City FC Saturday, Oct. 24 was voted the Week 26 Suntouchable Save of the Week presented by e.l.f. Cosmetics. A lunging effort denied a shot from distance by the SoCal club, keeping the scoreline even as halftime approached. It was one of Silkowitz’s six saves for the match, bringing her season total to 114, the second most in the NWSL this season and second-most by a goalkeeper in a single season in league history. It’s Silkowitz’s second Save of the Week award this season.
