Reading and summer are quickly becoming synonymous with Bay FC. Defender Emily Menges and forward Keira Barry spent a Thursday evening at Story Time at the Cambrian Branch of the San Jose Public Library on July 16. This was the third of four reading events in the Bay FC Summer Reading Program Presented by Ross Stores, where players promote summer reading programs and youth literacy with local youth and families. The players read stories to the crowd and signed toy soccer balls as souvenirs for the night. With 275 local youth in attendance, this was likely our biggest reading event to date!
Going on three years, Bay FC and Ross Dress for Less have partnered to support reading and literacy programs for Bay Area youth. They’re connecting with public libraries across the region to promote their summer reading programs, share their favorite stories, and share the importance of learning all year. Making their way around the bay, Bay FC hosted three prior events in San Leandro, Santa Clara and San Francisco – look out for a recap of the last one soon!
